This article is a study on how neuroscience can help us understand the process of creating movements and its social implications, especially since the discovery of the mirror neuron. I limit the study to the relationship between the mirror neuron and the emotions in the body, in order to study how, through empathy, an initial movement can produce other movements, which in turn become answers (or questions) to the incentives and provocations made by elements that already exist. This proposition presents otherness as a survival strategy, in reference to Giorgio Agamben's thought: there are many more things involved in a gesture than just a signification (AGAMBEN, 2007). We only survive collectively, even so, it is difficult to understand what the other says. Empathy seems to be a fundamental clue. She has studied literature, classic and contemporary dance, choreographic composition and theatrical interpretation. She has a Bachelor´s degree in Literature (UERJ), a Master of Performing Arts (UNIRIO) and is currently a PhD researcher in Communication and Semiotics at PUC-SP. She is interested in the dialogue between the body, the spoken word and the image. From 1993 on, she has developed several artistic works with Cia. Movimento e Luz, as a director and dancer. At present, she is performing the solo Leia-me, in collaboration with lighting designer Fred Pinheiro, dancer and creator Cláudia Müller and multimedia artist Theo Dubeux.
